Attention Haters: Stop Watching and Whining About ‘True Detective’

If you find you just cannot enjoy the current season of HBO's True Detective, I have a suggestion that will improve your quality of life. 

JUST STOP WATCHING IT.

Seriously. If you loathe everything about Season 2, don't watch it. Think the plot is too muddled? Then don't watch. Think the acting is bad? Then don't watch. Hate the score? Don't watch.

It's that simple.

Stop watching True Detective if you hate it so dang much, and please (I am begging you) stop complaining about it. I am issuing a CEASE AND DESIST to all of y'all who feel the need to inundate my timelines with your constant criticism.

I am 100 when I say it took me a few episodes to really start enjoying this season of True Detective. I loved the first season (don't judge: I have watched every episode at least three times); I don't know why, but I expected Season 2 to be just like the series I watched last year. It was not.

I had reservations but I kept watching, and I have continued to be more impressed with each passing week. The season had a rough start, but it's firing on all cylinders now. The last ten minutes of "Church in Ruins" blew me away and watching last night's episode had my stomach in knots; I'm invested in these characters and their stories.

It's a good show, and I don't understand why people have turned it into some sort premium cable anathema. Every Sunday night I see post after post after post of scathing critique clogging up my timeline. Why do people feel the need to search so desperately for every flaw within the series and whine about it on social media?

It's a television series. It's a form of entertainment. Why can't y'all enjoy it as such?

When did y'all all become scholars of cinematography? I was unaware you all had published your doctoral theses on method acting and are currently employed as screenwriters at a major Hollywood studio. What's that? You're not the reincarnation of Cecil B. DeMille?

Then shut up.

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but if you loathe this TV show and find fault with every aspect of every episode JUST STOP WATCHING.

PROBLEM SOLVED.
