The story of former Alabama running back Tony Nathan time at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham during an era of racial tensions is told in the soon-to-be-released movie Woodlawnand you can get your first look in a new trailer.

The upcoming film stars Birmingham native and former Alabama football player Caleb Castille as Nathan. It captures a tumultuous period in the city and school's history, where "Nathan  lands in a powder keg of anger and violence when he joins fellow African-American students at Woodlawn High School after its government-mandated desegregation in 1973." The true story shows how the team overcame the hate with love and unity.

Many scenes from the movie were filmed in and around Birmingham, including time inside Legion Field.

The movie will open in select theaters on October 16.
