Deontay Wilder has come a long way since winning a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games (earning the Bronze Bomber nickname), the Tuscaloosa native now holds the prestigious title of WBC heavyweight champion of the world!
In front of a home crowd at Legacy Arena in Birmingham on Sept. 26, Deontay defended his title with a win over Johann Duhaupas of France. This keeps the Bronze Bomber a perfect 35-0.
"It means a lot, especially defending my title," Deontay on being able to fight in front of a home crowd in Alabama. The world continues to take note of his special talent, even NBC decided to feature Deontay fighting in their primetime TV lineup. A first in 30 years.
