Following the popularity of May's Trucks by the Tracks, City of Northport officials have cleared the way for the event to return to the historic downtown area on Thursday, July 7th.

The first event featured various food trucks during the lunch hours. This time around, there is a time shift to evening/dinner event. This sounds like a good idea to not happen in the middle of hot July summer day. It won't be as hot, and folks won't time crunched to get back to work. It makes the event just that much more casual.

TRUCKS BY THE TRACKS - DOWNTOWN NORTHPORT

  • Thursday, July 7th
  • 5:00PM - 8:00PM

The goal described by city leaders is to attract people to the area. Again, after the popularity of the May event, there really is potential to grow. It may just be food trucks now, but who knows, music and more could be added down the line for a monthly or weekly event. Nobody from the city is saying this, it's just a thought from me.

Northport City Council President Jay Logan did share his feelings before the first event with WIAT:

This is an exciting event and hopefully we can garner more attention so we can showcase our downtown and show everybody that Northport is becoming one of the most preferred communities in state of Alabama..
