The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a forecast update through Friday outlining the possibility of severe weather.

Current radar is showing strong strong pushing through West Alabama. The threat will continue through 8 p.m. tonight for parts of West Alabama, including the cities of Tuscaloosa and Northport.

There may storms with the potential for winds up to 60 mph, quarter size hail and isolated tornadoes.

Here's the statement: A FEW SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTHWEST COUNTIES OF CENTRAL ALABAMA THROUGH 8 PM...MAINLY NORTH AND WEST OF A LINE FROM CARROLLTON TO COLUMBIANA TO ONEONTA. THE PRIMARY THREAT WILL BE DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH AND SOME LARGE HAIL. THE STORMS WILL ALSO CONTAIN FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. AN ISOLATED TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT.

The weekend won't be a total wash out, but we would see rain throughout.
