Weekly, B101.7 spotlights a special animal available for adoption from the Humane Society of West Alabama. We call it 'Pet of the Week,' and this week meet the sweet dog Peaches!

The Humane Society said it best by saying, "life will be just peachy with this adorable lovebug!" So true. This beautiful dog is Peaches, a 1 ½ year old female Shepherd/Terrier mix. She has a solid white coat with a little rusty brown on her face. She is smaller than a Shepherd, weighing 33 pounds, and this is full-grown.

Peaches was pulled from our local animal shelter, where she had been picked up as a stray by Animal Control. Poor Peaches had been down there for OVER 3 MONTHS, so the Humane Society knew she really needed to get out of there!

Talk about a very social, fun dog. She does get excited on first meeting, but will then settle down. She loves to play and run around, so she will need a fenced in yard. Peaches tends to be the dominant dog and plays sort of rough, but she does get along with other dogs. She should be okay around children ages 12 and up, just not too young due to jumping from excitement. We have started her crate training.

Peaches is up to date on her vet care, spayed, heartworm negative and is microchipped. She is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. While she gets a lot of love at our little shelter, Peaches really needs to get back into a home environment where she has a place that is hers! How can you resist that smile?

If you are interested in giving Peaches the forever home she wants and deserves contact the Humane Society of West Alabama. The website is HumaneSocietyOfWA.org or reach them by phone at 205-554-0011.

I found out that Peaches loves to play fetch! See her in action with the video below.
