Northport begins a new tradition this year! The community is invited to their first-ever Fall Festival Monday, October 12, in front of Northport City Hall! The Fall Festival will be held from 5pm until 7:30 pm and is free to attend. The Northport Fall Festival is sponsored by B101.7 and Buffalo Rock.

Plans for the Fall Festival include a trunk-or-treat, and children are encouraged to wear their costumes. They'll be able to visit the booths of area businesses to receive candy and treats. Northport's Fall Festival also includes bounce houses, concession and vendor stands, and crafts and games for children. (Kids 10 and under will receive one free "goodie" from the Northport Police Department and will be able to complete one craft while supplies last.)

Children ages 0-4 and 5-10 can compete in the Fall Festival's costume contest, and kids aren't the only ones who can dress up this year. The Fall Festival also includes a pet costume contest! Registration for the costume contest is at 5:30 pm; the contest begins at 6 pm. There is a $5 entry fee which benefits the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.

The Fall Festival also includes a food drive held in honor of the late Henry Lipsey, who served as Executive Director of the West Alabama Food Bank. The Northport Police and Fire Departments will be competing against one another to see who can collect the most cans of food, and the public is asked to bring non-perishable food items to the Fall Festival. Several "Super Heroes" will be at the Fall Festivall, and kids will be able to give food items to their favorite hero's decorated donation drop!

Miss Tuscaloosa Jessica Procter will be helping with the food drive as part of her commitment to end food insecurity in our community. All food items collected will be donated to the West Alabama Food Bank.
