Montell Jordan 21 Years After Club Hit, ‘This Is How We Do It’ – Flashback Friday

This B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight goes back to winter of 1995 when Montell Jordan heated things up with the dance floor jam, 'This Is How We Do It!'

It's almost the exact day the song was released, as it came out on February 6th of 1995. The upbeat song about hitting the club to party went to become a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100!

Montell Jordan has since vanished from the music scene.  Where is he now?  Well, he became a born-again Christian.  Then, in 2010, he became a minister at Victory World Church in Norcross, Georgia.

Montell's tweeted about the decison as, "a calling that’s probably been with me all my life since I was a child," as noted by Songfacts.  "And I’ve known it. A lot of people in the business know it and have the same calling but that leap of faith is difficult."

The former hip-hop star still performs his breakthrough chart topping hit, as Montell Jordan tells Yahoo Music, "I have done the song at certain [church] events.  It’s a song that brings joy, but I have to flip a couple of the lyrics because I don’t drink 40s anymore."
