The unofficial kickoff to summer has arrived! If you're sticking around for Memorial Day, take a look at these things to do in Tuscaloosa for the weekend!

As excited as we all get about fun summer stuff and long weekends, let us pause to honor a fallen heroes who have fought to give us the freedom to splash around and hot dogs this weekend.

Friday, May 27

Alabama softball hosting an NCAA Super Regional at Rhoads Stadium. The best of 3 series against Washington starts Friday night 8:00PM.

Opening day for a pair of new super splasher slides at the Nancy Blewitt Swim Center at Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa. This attraction makes our list of 5 water parks to check out this summer. Click here to see the others.

American Red Cross Blood Drive at the UPS Customer Service Center on Greensboro Ave in T-Town. The drive is from 2:30 until 7:30PM.

As we welcome the summer movie season, a couple of biggies are opening up at Cobb Hollywood 16 with X-Men: Apocalypse and Alice Through The Looking Glass hitting the big screen.


Saturday, May 28

Moundville Archaeological Park Birdfest 2016. The birding event this year is from 9:00AM until 4:00PM and will offer three experts to lead bird walks and give presentations. There will be special activities for children, making this a fun event for the entire family.

Spring Bash Car, Truck and Bike Show presented by No Limits Kustoms at the field located by the Baymont Inn and Suites on Oscar Baxter Boulevard. This free event is from 8:00AM until 3:00PM and will feature a kids area.

Alabama softball hosting NCAA Super Regional game 2 vs. Washington at Rhoads Stadium. First pitch at 4:30PM.

Dancers 4 Life Studio Presents Color My World With Dance. The recital takes place at Bama Theatre downtown starting at 2:00PM.


Sunday, May 29

If necessary, game 3 of the Tuscaloosa NCAA Super Regional with Alabama softball vs. Washington.


Monday, May 30

Memorial Day Service at Veterans Memorial Park (in front of University Mall). The special program honoring our country's heroes begins at 9:00AM.

Looking ahead to next Saturday, June 4, the annual Mule Kick 5K is going on in Gordo starting at 8AM and Tuscaloosa's One Place has Fathers in the Park starting at 10AM down at Annette Shelby Park off Queen City Avenue in T-Town!
