Weekend time in T-Town, as we get ready for the Tide to Roll and BEAT LSU this weekend, let's get this weekend started! Let's get this party started with this B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight, driven by Townsend Honda!

Back in 2003, a really good thing happened, Fergie joined the Black Eyed Peas and the group became a pop music force, as the album Elephunk was released. The fourth, yeah fourth, single released from that album was 'Let's Get It Started.' If you had a copy of the orignal album, you will see in the track listing 'Let's Get Retarted,' instead of started. That was the original song, before changed up.

Why was it changed? Originally, the lyrics were changed to for a promo for the 2004 NBA Playoffs. People liked it, so the group decided to release it as a single and the rest is history. The song became a party anthem and went on to be used for a handful of movie soundtrack.

The song received praise from critics and the ultimate honor, Grammy recognition. 'Let's Get It Started' won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2005 Grammy Awards, and was also nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rap Song.

As for what they are doing these days, Fergie is planning to release a new album 2015! Can you believe, it has been 8 years since her last album? Wow. But, the first single is already out. It's called 'L.A. Love (La La).'
