Paddles up, y'all! The Junior League of Tuscaloosa's fourth annual Dragon Boat Races take place Saturday on the Black Warrior River at Cypress Inn!

Races are set to begin around 10:30 Saturday morning. It's an incredibly exciting event-- teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steerer race in authentic Hong Kong-style, 46-foot-long dragon boats. Teams are comprised of local businesses and organizations, and it's so much fun to watch them compete on the Black Warrior River. This year 34 teams have registered.

Cypress Inn will be open for business Saturday; however, no public parking is available for the Dragon Boat Race. A shuttle will be in operation on race day--you can park at Northridge High School and ride to Cypress Inn from there. The shuttle will be in operation from 8 a.m. until after the last race (approximately 5:30).

In addition to the race, there will be a kid's area with activities and inflatables. The Dragon Boat Race will feature door prizes and a photo booth, too.

Funds raised at the Dragon Boat Races benefit the Junior League of Tuscaloosa's community outreach programs like Alabama REACH, Junior Achievement, and Holt Elementary School.
