It’s Going To Be Hot This Weekend Around Tuscaloosa

Late summer heat will be dialed up this weekend around Tuscaloosa and West Alabama. Hopefully, you won't run into the pool problem like me.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham is forecasting the daytime high to reach 100, with the heat index creeping up to 105. Isn't that hot enough to fry an egg on the street type weather?

Well, the egg's frying surface needs to be 144 degrees to really cook it. I don't think it will be quite that hot, but not entirely too far from that. The heat will be on, plain and simple. The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued this "Hazardous Weather Outlook:"

VERY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL RETURN ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA ON
FRIDAY...AND LAST THROUGH MUCH OF THE UPCOMING WEEKEND.
HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RISE INTO THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 100 DEGREES
FOR SEVERAL LOCATIONS. HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO BE
NEAR 105 DEGREES.

As hot as it may get this weekend, I will not forget the weekend at my sister's house in Georgia. It was a couple of years ago. On the ride over to her house, the air conditioning was on full blast, yet the car never really cooled. Once at her house, for a birthday party, the air conditioning couldn't keep up. It was so muggy and stuffy in that house. We all had that humid layer of slime on our faces. Fans didn't help much. So, the idea came up, let's go to the neighborhood pool to cool off. Hey, that sounded great! I was excited to jump into cool and crisp pool water. Ah, the refreshment waiting to happen. So, I thought. We get to the pool and its packed with lots of kids. I jump in and... it's bath water warm. I was convinced those kids were all doing their "business" in the pool. All of them. Why else would it be so warm? No, it couldn't be due to the blazing rays from the sun. Maybe it was. Needless to say, I didn't stay in the pool for long.

Good luck staying cool this weekend! Maybe you'll be lucky enough to by a "cool" pool or at the lake. Please make sure your pets have a way to stay cool, and check on the elderly.
