The challenge, you have 24 hours to pour a bucket (not just a cup) of ice-cold water over your head for ALS awareness or make a minimum donation of $100 to the cause. Sure, I'll accept the challenge in the name of ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Here we, go ice bucket time! It wasn't long ago I first noticed a video of a crazy person dumping ice water over their head. The audio was mute, so I didn't hear why. I laughed and moved on. Then, I noticed another video, and another. Wait, what's going on here? I listened and heard the reason, and thought how cool. Literally. As the number of videos increased, I knew it wasn't a matter if I would get called out, rather when will I get called out. Sure enough, leave it to my college buddy Bruce to do the honors. Bruce, I'll get you for this! Ha!

As the Washington Post explains, "the social media trend quickly caught on after friends and relatives of former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates started dumping ice-cold buckets of water on their heads to raise awareness for the degenerative disease, which Frates was diagnosed with in 2012."  What started just a few weeks ago on July 29th, has led to not just a lot of funny videos, but an upswing in donations. ALS reports on their website, an "astonishing $4 million in donations" have been collected since the challenged first surfaced on July 29th, through August 12th. Amazing! This will surely be the start of other fundraising efforts in the future. For now, look out if you haven't been challenged yet!

This morning, I headed out to the backyard with my bucket of already cold water and a shopping bag full of ice. The key is to show the ice cubes going in, otherwise, people may think that it's not really that cold. Oh, it is. I go a step further in the video by splashing a little water out the bucket, just to show that it is there.

Now, before the major self-soaking event, I was more than willing to call out and challenge three more people. This is really the best part, as I can't wait to see their videos. Who did I challenge? B101.7's own Meg Summers, along with my sisters Tammy and Mary.

Let's go to the video:
