I've noticed a flood of birthday reminders, as we get into the middle of the summer. This has led me to question, is the most common month for birthdays? What I've found is a breakout of all the days and months, ranking most and least common. So, join me in seeing how common your birthday happens to be.

A heat map has been created to easily see by intensity when most birthdays land. My hunch about July's popularity is true, but not quite number one. The month ranks 4th, behind September, August and June. Notice, all summer months. What exactly is in that eggnog when most people get in 'the mood'? The information comes from a Harvard University study of American babies born between 1973 and 1999, as listed out by the New York Times and graph by NPR data journalist Matt Stiles.

I see my birthday of August 1st is fairly common. But, September 16th is the most common day of the year. Overall, September is also the most common month. On the flip side, the least common days are February 29th and December 25th. The winter months are the overall least common. You know, I couldn't imagine having leap day for a birthday. Hey, you could always divide your age by 4. Besides, your birthday would end up being as special as say, the Olympics or World Cup, which both are only every four years. What about having Christmas as your birthday? Your relatives would preach how much of an honor it is, but the reality is you get cheated on presents.
