Hey there Delilah, we'd like to name you our B101.7 Pet of the Week with the Humane Society of West Alabama!

Yeah, there I go again, taking a dog name and working in a song. This time, the Plain White T's 2006 hit song, 'Hey There Delilah.' Let me 'dig up' and post that video below.

Well, to many she will be the “sweater dog” that was all over social media to find her owner, then to help with her heartworm treatment. Say hello again to Delilah, a Delaney Golden Retriever/Lab mix who is 2 to 3 years old.

Delilah has a beautiful gold and white smooth coat and is now a big girl, weighing 50 pounds. Delilah was found and picked up by Animal Control and taken to our local shelter. She was wearing a cute sweater, so everyone was surprised her owner never showed up. Delilah then tested positive for heartworms. Luckily, a generous sponsor came through for her heartworm treatment and we found a foster to take care of her during this two-month process. Delilah was successfully treated and is so happy to run and play like she loves to do!

Delilah is a wonderful dog who is very friendly and social. She loves to be with her person and would make a great running/walking/hiking buddy to help get her energy out. Delilah will require a fenced in yard and is too big and active for apartment living. She should be fine with other dogs and older children just because she sometimes doesn’t know her size.

Here is what her foster had to say, "we've learned that Delilah is completely crate trained. Not a single accident in two months! She is also very smart, but has a TON of energy so keeping her focused is a little bit of a task. She will definitely need lots of room to run and play. I'm also not sure how she will do with smaller children because she doesn't seem to be aware of her size and has a tendency to jump and grab on to people. But all in all, she's a very sweet dog and has lots of love to give!"

Delilah is up to date on her vet care, spayed, heartworm negative and is microchipped. She is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

Delilah is healthy and happy and ready to be in her forever home!! If you are interested in giving Delilah the forever home she wants and deserves, visit HumaneSocietyOfWA.org or call 205-554-0011.

See Delilah having fun, running and playing with the other dogs in the yard!

Now, for the song.
