Sloss Music and Arts Festival is going down in the Magic City July 18 and July 19, 2015, and I am getting y'all ready for the hottest concert in Birmingham with a playlist of my Sloss Fest Faves!

The lineup for the first-ever Sloss Fest is AMAZING! So many of my favorite artists are coming to Sloss Furnace: Band of Horses, Modest Mouse, First Aid Kit, Cage the Elephant, St Paul and the Broken Bones, Primus, Purity Ring... the list goes on and on... just take one look at the schedule and you'll see why I am so psyched for Sloss Fest.

Oh, and here's some fun Meg facts for all y'all:

  • I went to middle and high school with "Saint Paul" himself; in fact, Paul and I were named the Class Clowns of our 8th grade class at Chelsea Middle School. No joke--I need to find that hilarious and embarassing year book pic for y'all.
  • I went to college at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. During my time in the BGKY, I met a group of guys in a band named Perfect Confusion. I went to a ton of their shows and partied with them pretty regularly in 2005 (dang; has it really been ten YEARS?). Anyway, you've probably never heard of Perfect Confusion, but I bet you have heard these dudes before--they changed their name to Cage the Elephant.

Sloss Music and Arts Festival is going to be so rad. You can try food from some of the country's most celebrated chefs at the Nick 'N Friends tent or sample brews from across Alabama at the Piggly Wiggly Craftly Beerly tent (great name, right?). They're going to have hands-on iron pouring demos, and even a showcase from the American Poster Institute (that's gonna leave me destitute because I LOVE show posters!). Make sure you check out the festival's stellar lineup of art vendors, too!

We're giving y'all a chance to attend Sloss Fest on us. Tune in to the 5 O'Clock Happy Hour with Greg Thomas this week for your cue to call--and you could score weekend passes to the Sloss Music and Arts Festival from B101.7!
