The word free is being used a lot to describe Tuscaloosa's 4th of July 'Celebration on the River' events. The family fun schedule is packed from morning to the fireworks finale at night.

Malibu Cup Water Ski Tournament, kids zone, patriotic pops concert and fireworks are among things to do to celebrate Independence Day here in West Alabama!

The morning starts with the Famers Market open from 7 until 12. The water ski tourney featuring the #1 woman skier in the world starts at Noon. The starting point is at the dock near the Broken Egg restaurant and run up the river. Bleachers will be set up for great views along the River Walk.

Later in the day, the PARA Kid Zone will open at 5pm. Once again, it will be set up across the street from the amphitheater. Once again, the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will be performing a patriotic pops concert which will start at 8pm. A big changed from the past, this year the city has done away with tickets and the show is free and open to the public! This give you an option of having a seat for the fireworks, or you could sit on the hill across the street.

Brandt Garrison of the Tuscaloosa Sports and Tourism Commission is all knowing when it comes to details on the 4th. She dropped by the B101.7 studio to let us know what to expect for events and parking. Plus, she had fun throwing the free word around a lot! See it below, plus find out what happens when I 'get my notes mixed up.'
