The Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission (TTSC) is excited to host the Food Network’s Martie Duncan to promote the upcoming Restaurant Week in Tuscaloosa.

Ms. Duncan will be in Tuscaloosa August 6-7 to experience our local cuisine and highlight participating restaurants.

Duncan recalls Tuscaloosa’s food scene, “Over the past two years as I've toured Alabama for Restaurant Week, I've watched the food scene in Tuscaloosa grow; it is becoming a real restaurant town with so many options for foodies like me. I'm really looking forward to another visit to some of my favorites: Chef Tres Jackson's Epiphany, Five for their famous Paneed Chicken, Fig for the chicken salad plate and the incredible homemade desserts, and Baumhower's- for the coal fire pizza as much as their legendary wings. The upcoming restaurant week promotion gives people a chance to try new places around town that they may have never visited. It's also a great way to support locally owned and operated businesses- a big win for the local economy.”

A native of Birmingham, Duncan was a participant on the eighth season of The Next Food Network Star, ultimately being eliminated in the final round. Since then she has been a guest host on multiple Food Network shows and The Oprah Winfery Show. In addition to her television work, Ms. Duncan is the president of a party planning company, M Content Media LLC, and blogs about different recipes and party ideas on MyRecipes.com. She has appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Marie Claire along with being featured at the Hangout Fest.

"We are so thrilled to have Martie here in advance of Restaurant Week to help us build the excitement about the fabulous eateries in our area!  We are also priviledged to have wonderful restaurant partners like Bob Baumhower who continues to help promote the Tuscaloosa food scene! We have some of the best restaurants in the State and as we promote simultaneously with Alabama Restaurant Week – it allows us to reach the world.  Forks up!"

While in Tuscaloosa, Ms. Duncan will be promoting the various restaurants that will be participating in the Tuscaloosa Restaurant Week on August 15-24. During this week, the participating restaurants will offer a lunch or dinner meal at a fixed price, allowing visitors to experience new places and cuisines. Each meal will consist on various courses, allowing the audience to taste the best of what that location has to offer. Local restaurants participating include Baumhower’s of Tuscaloosa, Chuck’s Fish, Cypress Inn, FIVE Bar, Epiphany and Kozy’s along with many others.
