FORUM, a Choreography Salon

Since its inception in 2003 Sanspointe Dance Company has provided fertile ground for artists to create and show groundbreaking dance work among peers and professionals. With the advent of their PreMoves works in progress showings in the late 2000’s and their choreography salons in Twentieth Century “early teen years” they stretched new boundaries and opened up the theatrical space for discussion and rumination among choreographers and audiences through a moderated experience. In direct development with this history they are now proud to produce FORUM, a Choreography Salon, which will enable artists to present work in a professional theatrical space and audiences an opportunity to share in the creative process. The company hopes to provide an atmosphere of excitement around the process of making dances, as well as an emphasis on the live theatrical connection between the performer and the spectator.

FORUM will be presented at the CDF Studio Theatre (1715 27th Court South, Homewood, AL 35209) on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 7pm. In order to offer this opportunity to as many people as possible, the event will be free. Audiences will experience work by current members of Sanspointe Dance Company and guest artists from the local and regional area. Feedback sheets and writing implements will be available for spectators. The talkback will be moderated by SDC’s current Artistic Director, Taryn Packheiser Brown.
