Come join me for the sights and sounds aboard a B-17 Texas Raiders Flying Fortress Bomber featured in the Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show presented by Pepsi!

The Commemorative Air Force Gulf Coast Wing notes, Texas Raiders B-17GTexas Raiders is one of the most recognized and famous Flying Fortresses currently on the airshow circuit. It has been recognized by AIR CLASSICS magazine as the best restored B-17G bomber currently flying in the world. The aircraft has been restored to wartime configuration by an entirely volunteer group of dedicated supporters. The aircraft has one of the most unusual histories of any existing Flying Fortresses flying today and is one of the most active and visible.

Just imagine the thrill of climbing aboard this historic aircraft to take an aerial look around Tuscaloosa, including Bryant-Denny stadium. This plane is loaded with weapons, from guns in every direction (top, bottom, sides, front and back) to bombs. Then, there was my seat in front of antique radio gear. Yeah, how fitting. The whole experience made my mind drift towards what is was like on this plane back in WWII fighting Nazi Germany. Here, see video of my flight.

Besides video, I took a bunch of photos too. See the gallery.
