Wagging tails, smiling faces and lots of barbecue made up the fun at the first Bark-B-Q at Snow Hinton Park with Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.

Volunteers brought out to the park a variety of dogs of different sizes and personalities. It's really just a sample of the many more dogs living at the shelter, along with quite a few cats. It's all because Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter is the hub for lost and abandoned dogs and cats from around Tuscaloosa county.

Over at the park's shaded picnic $5 donations were being accepted for lunch plates with food donated by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit (Hwy 69S and Hwy 43N), The Pottery Grill, and Golden Flake. Plus, drinks from Coca-Cola and Buffalo Rock/Pepsi.

The guys from Tuscaloosa Fire Department brought out a rescue truck too. Oh, and it was really cool to watch landing of Northflight's medical helicopter. I caught it on video below, along with sites from the event's beginning.

Check out a few photos I snapped while spending the day in the park for Bark-B-Q!

If you're looking for a dog or cat, please consider visiting Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter or one of the other fine animal rescue groups in the area.

Please always keep in mind what the former host of the Price is Right Bob Barker would always say, "help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered."
