Annually, the University of Alabama and Auburn University host food drives for their local food bank. The school to raise the most wins the bragging rights. Really, everyone wins as we fight to beat hunger!

Locally, the drive benefits the West Alabama Food Bank. A look around campus and town, and the familiar sight of crimson barrels have set out to collect cans and other non-perishable items. The cause is also supported with funds and awareness raised with a 5K road race.

As we await the final results from the weigh in, take a look at race day photos below.

Here's everyone getting their game face on before the race starts! You know, that's one really good looking B101.7 flag waving back there too!

This guy actually ran the entire 5K course waiving this Alabama flag. Roll Tide to that!

I know him! Yeah, yeah, that's me burning a trail with that huge stride. Actually, the finish line is around the corner. So, I was slowing down like a plane landing. Yeah, that's it. Okay, bad excuse for looking like the slow race guy bringing up the back of the line in that picture. Haha.

I must give credit to tireless effort of the UA students who organized this event. Job well done!

The time is approaching to get the overall results with the weigh in for both schools. Last year, Alabama collected 299,398 pounds to Auburn's 169,702. This year's goal for Alabama is pass 300,000 pounds... and, yes, BEAT AUBURN! I'll share the results as soon I as hear!
